On January 19, 2019, Cheyenne Lenay Dancause was shot and killed in a domestic violence situation. She left behind her daughter Hadlee, her parents, and many more people who loved her deeply. Cheyenne was the only child of Mike and Cassie Dancause.
They had to go through the State of Missouri to retain custody of their granddaughter. They also went to every court date that the assailant had up to trial.
The system let them down by lying and giving misinformation. They vowed that they would do everything in their power to help women and children get to safe places. They did not want other families have to go through what they did.
When Cheyenne was a little girl, her Grandpa Dusty nicknamed her Sweetpea. When Hadlee was born, her great-grandfather Stuart started calling her his Sweet Pea.
Both Grandpas and Cheyenne are now gone, with Hadlee here with Mike and Cassie. In honor of the three people who were so loved dearly but lost so suddenly.
More than anything the family is trusting God's timing and following the paths that he has put out for them to follow. They are secure in the knowledge and faith that God will make Sweet Pea House Shelter happen and help them get what is needed when it is needed.
